Chairman Edward & Silvonia Dyson
Edward Dyson has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1972. He serves as Chairman of the Deacon’s Ministry. He has always been vocal about his love for Christ and gives Him glory for the great things He has allowed to happen in his life. Deacon Dyson has been married to Silvonia, his wife, for 53 years and have three children, ten grand- children, and two great grandchildren. The Dysons are both retired as full-time educators.
Wilbert & Doris Bibbs
Bobbie & Lettie Haugabrook
Bobbie Haugabrook is a native of Cordele, GA, born April 26, 1941. After a twenty-year career in the United States Air Force, he served twenty-six years as a civil servant while completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. In January 1981, he joined the First Baptist Church family, served in various ministries, and was ordained on January 17, 1993. Deacon Haugabrook married his childhood sweetheart, Lettie M. (Kinchen) Haugabrook in 1964. They have three children and six grandchildren.
Ernest & Marsha Moore
Ernest Moore’s first visit to First Baptist was in December of 1974. He recalls the warm welcome he and Sister Moore received from Deacon Artis Wilson, Sr. One month later, he joined; six months later, he was ordained as a deacon. In Deacon Moore’s nearly 45 years at FBC, he has served in numerous ministries, including Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, van driver, evangelism member, chair of deacons, co-chair for Fifth Sunday Fellowship, senior care assistant as well as church custodial, landscaping and lawn care servant. Deacon Ernest and Sister Marsha Moore are the parents of Nya and Fentriss Orinthian.
Houston & Christine Porter
Born, reared and early educated in Stewart County, Lumpkin, Georgia, Houston G. Porter, Jr. matriculated through The Fort Valley State and Mercer Universities, receiving the B.S. and Master degrees respectively. He is married to the former Christine Johnson and they have one son and three grandchildren. He and his wife were "added on" as members of The First Baptist Church, Garmon Street over 40 years ago. He presently serves as Deacon, ministry representative for the Ushers, Support for Caregivers, and Wellness ministries. He has served as choir member, Sunday school teacher and co-founder of Boy Scout Group 482.
